About Us
Both Bill and Alexandra strive to bring more lacrosse to the lower Northern Valley area. The opportunities for children to play lacrosse are growing at all ages, and we hope to grow the game and the love for the game for everyone. Our program is based in Demarest, New Jersey in Bergen County, however we serve towns of Closter, Haworth, Cresskill, Tenafly and more.

An Edgewater, NJ native, Alexandra Champ played Division I lacrosse at the University of Pennsylvania, and five years of post-grad lacrosse for The New York Athletic Club. She played four years of Varsity Lacrosse, Field Hockey and Basketball at Dwight-Englewood High School, and was inducted into their Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012. Alex is the co-owner of Jr Norsemen Lacrosse and the Founder of Learn to RUN LLC. She is also the Head Field Hockey and Lacrosse Coach at NV Demarest high school.

An East Brunswick native, Bill Potkulski was a college athlete at The Pennsylvania State University. With a BA in Physical Education, he has been teaching elementary PE for eleven years in Closter, NJ. He possesses a master’s degree in Athletic Administration and Coaching, while coaching varsity lacrosse and soccer for the Academy of the Holy Angels. In addition, he coaches middle school basketball in Closter, and youth summer teams for Xtreme Lax Factory. Bill specializes in teaching skill acquisition and fitness concepts to children.
Melanie Welch

Melanie comes to us after playing her entire DI career with the National Championship Boston College Eagles. Mel started 74 straight games for BC. She was one of the NCAA's top lockdown defenders in all of college lacrosse, was a USA Lacrosse All-American in 2023 and received the Welles Crowther Red Bandanna Award in 2021. Melanie is currently a Program Management Specialist at ServiceNow.

Alex is a 2018 graduate of Drexel University, where she played DI lacrosse all four years. Alex played Attack at Drexel, where she finished her career with 28 goals and 6 assists for the Dragons. Alex is a native of Glen Rock, NJ where she was named Female Athlete of the Year in 2014, and named Academic All-American by USA Lacrosse in 2013 and 2014. Alex is currently a Research Technician at the National Science Foundation.
Madeline Dill

Maddie also hails from Glen Rock, NJ, where she was a stand-out midfielder, earning a Varsity letter all four years. Maddie continued to play four years of DIII lacrosse at Muhlenberg College, where she finished her career with 52 goals, 17 assists and 76 draw controls in the spring of 2022. Maddie was All-Centennial Conference Second Team in 2022, after having a breakout season that year, starting every game and tallying at least one point in every game and was second on the team in draw controls. Maddie is currently a law student at New York Law School, after serving as the JV Girls Lacrosse Coach at NV Demarest HS in 2023.
